The Elysée School marks the Independence Day.( Monday Morning )

To mark the sixty-sixth anniversary of Lebanon's independence, the Elysée School in Hazmieh held various activities. The students of the complementary classes visited Nahr al-kalb to view the stelae engraved by armies which had passed through Lebanon over the centuries, including the plaque commemorating the evacuation in 1945 of all foreign troops from the country..

A unit of the Internal Security Forces received the students, who distributed flowers to passers-by. A ceremony took place on the school playground attended by General Walid Sleiman, commander of the Military School ; Colonel AbdelKarim Hashem, commander of the navy's Special Forces; (Maghawir); Elie Moussallem, owner and principal of the school; the superior of the priory of the Carmelite fathers; pupils, parents and members of the faculty. After the national anthem, Elie Moussallem delivered a speech in which he evoked the meaning of independence and paid tribute to the state officials, notably the president and the Army commander-in-chief, and exhorted the students to preserve the nation.Performances were then given by the brass band of the Army and by Army and Red Cross personnel, as well as by students, who performed acts of skill.Members of the Maghawirs were also on hand to demonstrate martial arts techniques, and a plane built by pupils under the direction of Pierre Bou Malham, the sports master, flew over the playground.
